2013 NBA Slam Dunk Contest

One week from today the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest while be one of four NBA All-star events that will take place at Houston's Toyota Center. This year's event features six dunkers, three from the East and three from the West. The field looks to provide a much needed spark to revive the Dunk Contest.

Let's meet our dunkers:

Jeremy Evans (Utah)
  - Defending Sprite Slam Dunk Champion
- In 2012 put on an exciting and creative show (click the link below to see)
- Won with (pictured to the right) the two-ball catch-and-stuff from Jazz teammate Gordon Hayward and finished with dunking over Kevin Hart while wearing a Karl Malone jersey.

Kenneth Faried (Denver)
- Seventh in the NBA with 80 dunks (as of 2/8/13)
- Rim-rattler, throws down dunks that are big and powerful
- Faried's tenacity will ignite the crowd, even though he may
   lack tricks or creativity

- This year's shortest dunker at 6'1"
- He will by the one dunking instead of dishing

- Has a real chance to win with Chris Paul by his side and with the support of  the crowd who tends to get behind the smaller guys

Gerald Green (Indiana)

-Runner-up in 2008
- Throughout the years Green has proven his elite status
as a dunker with his high-flying ability and creative spark

2009 NBA D-League Dunk Champion

Terrence Ross (Toronto)
- Raptors' high-flying rookie
- Has shown his highlight ability
- Has experienced dunkers Rudy Gay and  DeMar DeRozan for advice
- Could be a darkhorse

Ross Highlights

After meeting our Dunkers these are my predictions

6. Kenneth Faried - A lot of power, but not enough style and creativity
5. Eric Bledsoe - Has the dark-horse potential and the hops, but will it be enough?
4. Terrence Ross - Has the explosiveness, but can he do something wild to excite the crowd?
3. James White - Draws a lot of hype and is the public favorite, can glide from the free throw line
2. Jeremy Evans - It's hard to repeat in any sport or competition, can he top last year's performance?
1. Gerald Green - Will want to add to his collection of slam dunk hardware and has show his creativity before. I think Green will come out and do something that will blow our minds and rejuvenate this competition
