2013 NBA 3-Point Contest

NBA All-star Saturday night is fast approaching, we are less than one week away! In the previous blog I previewed and gave my predictions for the slam dunk contest. This blog is going to take a look at six  3 point snipers who will be competing for the right to be crowned the Foot Locker 3 point champion. Note all stats are as of 2/10/13.

Our 3 point shooters for 2013:

Paul George (Indiana)

-Season averages of 17.8 ppg on 42.5% shooting
-From 3 he is shooting 39.1% (113/289)
-Has blossomed into a all-star, making Danny Granger expendable
- 41st in NBA 3-pt shooting



Kyrie Irving (Cleveland)

-Season averages of  24.0 ppg on 47.4% shooting
-From downtown he is at 42.9% (81/189)
-Has erased any doubt, if any, of being the man picked to rebuild the Cavs franchise
-Has become one of the NBA's best scorers and a fan favorite
-Ranks 11th in NBA 3-pt shooting



Steve Novak (New York)

-Season averages of 7.0 ppg on 42.0% shooting
-From behind the arc he is shooting 44.1% (93/211)
-The true definition of a "one-purpose" player; his job is to make 3's
-262 field goal attempts, 211 are 3-pt attempts
-Sits in 5th among NBA 3-pt shooters


Ryan Anderson (New Orleans)

-Season averages of 16.9 ppg on 43.7% shooting
-From downtown he's shooting 40.1% (151/377)
-2nd consecutive year in this event
-T-27th in the NBA 3-pt rankings






Matt Bonner (San Antonio)

-Season averages of 4.0 ppg on 47.2% shooting
-From 3-point land is at 43% (34/79)
-The fan's man in this competition
-Does not qualify for the NBA's official 3-point leaders
 becasue he is not pace for the required minimum of 55 makes


Stephen Curry (Golden State)

-Season averages of 20.9 ppg on 43.1%
-From behind behind the arc is at 44.8% (147/328)
-One of the biggest All-Star game snubs, but at least we will see him shooting 3's
-Has become one of the surest 3 shooters in the game
-Is ranked 2nd among NBA qualified 3 shooters











My Foot Locker 3-Point Predictions

6. Paul George, He has become a rising star this year but, he is the only man under 40% who will be   shooting
5. Matt Bonner, Don't get me wrong he is a very dangerous 3 shooter, but i can't see him outlasting some of the younger players in this event
4. Steve Novak, One of the purest 3 shooters in the league but i don't think he will be able to find the rhythm necessary to win this event
3. Ryan Anderson, the only participant with experince in the three point contest. He cane easily win this event but what's not to like about my top two?
2. Kyrie Irving, Becoming an absolute beast in the association. He can easily win with that gaudy 42.9% from 3, the third best percentage among the six men competing
1. Stephen Curry, has taken the second most 3's this season (328) and has the best percentage (44.8%) among this year's field of six.
